Question #7

If a and b are positive integers, a is what percent of b ?

(1) (1/4)*b = a
(2) a/b = 20/80

 Explanation

To find a as a percent of b is the same as finding the ratio of a to b. Simply stated, we need to know one value in terms of the other, which is given to us in each statement. Don’t do the math! Just note the fact that you could do it using the information in either statement, select choice D (each is sufficient independently), and move on.

If you’re having trouble, just make up a value for either a or b and test it out for yourself. The correct answer is (D).
