**Question #4**

Is *q* less than .30 ?

(1) *q* is less than ^{1}/_{3}.

(2) *q* is equal to ^{1}/_{4}.

**Explanation**

Statement (1) is insufficient, since *q* could still equal values that are either greater than (.32, for example) or less than .30. Since statement (2) gives us an exact value, we know it is sufficient to answer the question. (Hint: don’t worry about whether the answer is “yes” or “no;” the real trick is knowing that there IS an absolute answer.) The correct answer is (B).
